The Good
Texas has the 2nd largest economy in the nation (the 9th economy in the world). There are lots of Fortune 500 companies that call Texas home. There is lots of oil and natural gases, and our laws are business friendly (open shop workers unions). There are many military bases, and the agricultural sector is developed.
The people are friendly, the food is great (thanks to our Mexican friends), and the women are beautiful (and that's an understatement).
The weather is simply amazing (except for 3 months during the summer - when is very hot).
In November, it is not uncommon to have temperatures in the mid 70s.
The Bad
It depends on the location, but the average Texan is not particularly educated (only about 20% of the people in my town are college educated). We like the simple pleasures of life.
We enjoy:
- Nascar ... it is something great about watching people spinning in circles
- We love to kill innocent animals
- "Who wants to be a millionaire" is for those stupid Yankees up north ... we enjoy "Deal or no Deal"
- Dancing and listening to Country Music.
- Watching football
People here are extremely religious, and very conservative. In my town, the only way for people to socialize is by going to church (every week ... over and over again)
Texans are republicans - in my county they voted for McCain 70-30%. Do I need to say more?
Interesting Facts
1) In Onley, TX alcohol is illegal for all ages.
2) Harrold Independent School district allows teachers to carry concealed weapons to class.
The Ugly
Racism is present in every fact of life.It is unfortunate but KKK is still active.
Some Texans believe that all the Arabs are terrorists.
During this election, 23% of Texans thought Obama is a Muslim.
True Story: I was helping a redneck at Best Buy ... he became irate and he called me a terrorist.
